Hastings and District Canoe Club is excited to offer a 6-week beginner-friendly kayaking course! Whether you're completely new to paddling or haven’t paddled in a while, this is the perfect opportunity to build confidence and learn essential skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Start Date: 23rd January 2025 (20:45-21:45)
Location: Battle Abbey School Pool, Penland Road, Bexhill, TN39 3LP
Cost: £86.52 for the full 6 weeks

What You’ll Learn:

  • Basic paddling strokes to propel your boat forward, backward, and sideways
  • Introduction to paddling efficiency using core strength and correct paddle angles
  • Support strokes for stability
  • Turning techniques, including forward and reverse sweep strokes
  • Edging to improve balance and manoeuvrability
  • Bracing to prevent capsizing
  • Draw strokes for precise sideways movement
  • Safe capsizing and recovery techniques, including wet exits and assisted rescues
  • The fundamentals of rolling your kayak, plus progressions for those who are ready
  • Paddling posture and boat trim for efficiency and comfort
