South Wales Trip Feb 2012

Fri 17 Feb

This was our annual trip to South Wales that we share with Addlestone Canoe Club.

Some people had arrived the night before and the rest arrived by 10:30 after an early morning start from home. The weather was pleasantly warm for the time of year, but there had not been much rain.

We started above Sennybridge and paddled down to Aberbran, leaving trails of plastic swarf on the shallow rocks!

We returned to Joe's Lodge in Talgarth for a warm shower and a pleasant meal.

Sat 18 Feb

The morning was showery with a strong breeze which made the 'flat' early part of the paddle from Talybont to the Gliffaes Hotel a bit of a chore. Fortunately the sun came out by lunchtime and made the paddling seem easier.

Back at Joe's Lodge, the curry was milder than last year's, which went down better with some people (and there were no pickles of dubious origin!)

Sun 19 Feb

This year we visited the Cardiff International White Water Centre on the Sunday as they were running sessions at 4 cumecs and 8 cumecs, which gave everyone who wanted, chance to play (photos, video). The weather was much colder, so it was nice to have hot showers and changing rooms available, rather than changing in a field like the previous days.

Thanks to Dave & Diana for organising, and to the 'girls' for helping with the catering.
