Welcome to the site

Hastings & District Canoe Club is based, at West of Haven, Cinque Ports Way, Hastings. We are a small friendly Club, promoting the sport of kayaking. The Club is run totally by volunteers; this includes the coaches who give of their time freely. Membership of the Club has its benefits, it enables members to use boats and equipment, and it is the best beach hut on the sea front Read More...

With our Club, based on the beach, paddling on the sea is our main activity; but we like to introduce members to all kayaking disciplines. We host three national ranking events. Slalom, where you negotiate a course of gates moving downstream and Marathon, long distance flat water racing. We endeavor to arrange a trip away each month to suit differing abilities.

The Club has achieved its Clubmark accreditation; this ensures that the Club meets national operating standards. We are affiliated to Canoe England and Sussex Sport and also work with our local Councils, School and Youth Groups.

Rye Raft Race
Jason's Raft Team (mostly HDCC members) successfully defended their title by winning the Rye Raft Race on 29 Aug 2010. We played host to Bill Granger, an Australian celebrity chef, who came with his film crew, as part of his TV series which is due to air in the UK this autumn. Some poor planning set us up, on the bank before the race, in the middle of the other crews, so we were being attacked from all sides by flour bombs, water bombs, and tomatoes (some of which looked... Read more...
North Wales Trip Report 2010
Fri 06 Aug 2010 The annual pilgramage to North Wales started before dawn, for the long drive from Hastings to Llangollen. After the traditional breakfast at Tesco in Telford, the group reassembled in the carpark at Mile End Mill, together with some club members who had arrived from other parts of the country. Water levels in the Dee were low, so not everyone wanted to paddle - preferring to keep their kit dry for the next day. For those that did paddle, it was a good... Read more...
Thames Trip Report 2010
Fri 30 July We met at the club at 07:30 to load up the boats and other equipment before driving to Wargrave near Henley-on-Thames. Once the cars had been unloaded they were shuttled to Hurley where we were due to finish. We set off down stream with 9 people in 5 open canoes. It was a relaxing paddle with plenty of time to admire the big riverside houses and the extravagant boats on the river - how the other half live! We stopped in Henley-on-Thames for lunch, watching the... Read more...
